My 55 today, a thanks!

Still no prize winning tank, but thanks to the help of several folks giving advice and helping me figure out how to improve, my algae ridden mess of a 55 is starting to at least look a lot cleaner and behave a lot better.

Sean, Ghanzafar, Aaron, Rob, and Kris all put up with a ton of questions from me on how to improve what what going on in this tank.

Helped me change water flow to get rid of BGA, learn to fertilize it a bit better (still melting japonica, but I am improving ), work on the lighting, a myriad of details.

So thanks folks for putting up with the pestering questions, it really is helping me!

(Please forgive the back wall algae, heh, I haven't touched anything but the front glass since before the 4th.)

Looks like things are growing very well for you now! You have all the plants you need, now you just need some driftwood and/or rocks to give this tank a little bit more depth. Nice work!

What is the stem on the right side of the first pic?

small leaves, red at the top.

rotala pink, mostly gone now, sold a bunch off and had a BBA outbreak eat almost all the rest... regrowing it in another tank.

What's the plant on the far left? Great looking plant! I have had trouble with rotala pink. It grew like crazy in my old tank but now I can't get it to survive. House of Tropics in Glenn Burnie usually has it for sale.

It looks to be Hygophila corymbosa stricta on the far left.

Rotalas tend to love higher phosphate levels and softer water. Did your water source change?
