Calling Chemists!

Post by Ghazanfar Ghori »

I've been getting BGA in my tanks. Circ / O2 / NO3 isnt the issue - plenty of all. I spoke with Phil (Brightwell) last night and he agrees that it might be due to the urea I'm using in the 'Spezial N' fert I'm using.

After the AGA, I also want to try the higher ppms to accelerate growth.

In sitting down to calculate all the fert mixes - I just went to town and boiled it all down to a simple dosing formula that will give me all I need, in the ratios I want
Dosed at 1ml / Gallon, it keeps things simple - and I might just go to dosing this at water change time only instead of the MWF routine.

Can someone please sanity check this for me?

File attached.

Have you cleaned your filter recently?

GG

So the urea, where is it from? Do you know the chemical makeup including impurities?

Sounds risky to me.

Its pretty high grade urea. Been using it in my mix for 6-9 months. Nothing died due to it. Its safe at the pH levels we operate at.

The new mix in the excel file doesn't have any..

Thanks Aaron! That was very helpful. I found a mistake in my ppm calcs.
Update file attached if anyone is interested.

I think there's a mobile version too. The guy, Carlo, who created it is usually an AGA attendee so I was bummed not to see him there.
