Joe, whenever I have tested my tap water, I've found about 10ppm nitrates. Might want to test your tap.

Chris, I tested my tap water, it looked to be about 10ppm for nitrates.
I've quit testing for my water for now, and continue to dose EI method, 3/8 tsp KNO3 and 1/8 tsp KH2PO4 three times a week. My algae problems seem to be diminishing, but not completely. I think my biggest issue right now is too much livestock and probably overfeeding. My Elantine triandra, is doing very well, I have to remove some of it weekly, but my Pogostemon yatabeanus, though growing, its leaves are curling under on the new growth at the top. My other plants are doing well also.
