Where to find timer for autodoser?

Post by Judi »

What kind of timer are people using for their fertilizer autodosers? I've been to both Home Depot and Lowe's, and I cannot find a digital timer that can be set to run for less than 15 minutes.

Walmart has one that is digital and has a heavy duty plug outlet for cords with grounded plugs. They also have a regular digital one. I think they're about $12-$15 or so.

Or ebay is another option. http://cgi.ebay.com/Globe-HEAVY-DUTY-Di ... 1|294%3A50

I would ask if it can do minutes though.

That looks like one I saw at Home Depot, which stated on the package it could be set for a minimum of 15 minutes. I guess I'll check Walmart.

The one I have is a Brinks model ( I got off of my butt just for you ) and it's the one I got from WalMart. I use it for my lights, but I'm pretty certain this is the one people are using for autodosing.

I have a Timex digital timer that I got at Sprawl-Mart that was pretty cheap for a 7 day programmable and takes a grounded 3-prong plug.

Cheers.

Jeff, I would have assumed that too. But I'm not kidding, this timer I picked up at Home Depot cannot. I admit I didn't look closely at it when I bought it, just saw the words "Digital Timer" and "Battery Backup" and figured I was good to go. But to program it, you have to turn a stupid little dial to highlight the time you want it to be on, and the shortest interval possible is 15 minutes.

Anyway, picked up a Brinks model at Walmart yesterday, and it was able to be programmed as I'd expected. Put together an autodoser this evening, so I'm finally in business!
