My UV Setup, pic for Frannie

Post by ingg »

Didn't forget ya, just been tied up.

Did a big water change, got another cloudy water outbreak, good time to show you how I set my UV.

The tubing is leftover from a Rena Filstar, 5/8" tubing. Used a leftover Aquaclear intake on one side, tubing fit it perfectly, and the tubing also slips on the intake of MaxiJet powerheads.

Pretty neat - all the maxijets seem to have the same size intake, so with a couple of powerheads, you can adjust flow just by changing size of the powerhead.

It primes easily - a little suction by mouth on the powerhead side, and it mostly fills by itself.... then plug powerhead on, put it in water, and hold the uv up horizontal rock the rest of the bubbles out, the powerhead pulls them and spits it if you rock it a few times.

Easy, simple, inexpensive, (ugly, lol), and able to go from tank to tank.

I have a couple of 80w sterilizers that will pretty much kill everything in the room. Not exactly portable, as they are nearly 4 foot tall. Bought them to use in my fish room and never took them out of the box.

I like the portability of yours Dave!

Thanks ingg, but this thread is useless without pictures! Lol! Kidding, of course.

How about a pic?

Weird, I couldn't see it last night when viewing from my kitchen PC with Internet Explorer, but I can see it now using Safari on my Mac.

It's showing up on Firefox for me. It's likely a problem with the image hosting service Dave's using. Maybe they were doing system maintenance over the weekend or something?

Bugger photobucket, I don't like going where they make you join to spam you with emails. ;)
