local source for cool rocks

Post by shireen »

Hi ... what are good places to get interesting rocks? I'm interested in using them for terrariums.

Getting them at aquarium stores can get expensive so i'm looking for a cheaper source, like a rock or landscaping store that tolerates slightly insane hobbyists like me rummaging through their stocks.

Also, are there places where i could legally pick up rock on land (I doubt it, but thought i'd ask anyway).

thanks!

In the Baltimore area, check out The Stone Store near BWI:

As for picking up rocks, stop by residential construction sites (of course, in this real estate market, those might be hard to find). Some members have had good luck with that.

I was in the landscape industry for 20 years so I can help a little.

The Stone Store in Glen Burnie is good but a little on the exspensive side but when you only want a couple of pieces they may give it away.

Harwood Landscape Products is all stone in Harwood, MD. in southern Anne Arundel Co.

Also in AA county Tilden Lawn in Davidsonville.
Sincerely,
Tim
