Hamburger Mattenfilter (HMF)

Post by jweis »

I found two articles on this:
http://www.shrimpnow.com/content.php/26 ... )#comments
http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/sh ... filter-HMF

Looks like a cool way to provide a large sponge area for beneficial bacteria, plus a great way to hide the heater and other mechanics.

I've used these on 10 g and 40 breeder tanks, and yeah, they are awesome filters but they make annoying gurgling sounds. Not optimal for display tanks in living areas. The air pumps can be noisy, too. Something to consider.

That is good to know. Thanks for the first hand feedback.

Julie I found this site looking at a nano shrimp tank thread, it's an overflow system but your tanks would be linked via a central pump, but it's still worth the look.

Thank Tim. I'm going to go the sponge filter route for the three shrimp tanks I am setting up now, but this may be an option for future expansion efforts.
