source for interesting Cory cats?

Post by ericbullock »

I need some bottom dwellers and was thinking of adding some Cory cats...I'm thinking either Laser greens or Red Stripes. Someone mentioned Tony Orso but I can't find any contact info for him. I'd make the drive to Aquarium Center if need be, but its a little far away. Any ideas?

Cheers,

If you're making the drive to Aquarium Center keep going another 10 minutes to Exotic Aquatics and get nicer service and fish. It's exit 30 (Pering Parkway I think) off the 695 beltway. I forget if it's B or A, but take the second exit from the innerloop. Make your first right onto Joppa Rd. Make a left at the second light to get to the shopping center on your left. Turn left into the shopping center. It's a much better store IMO. There's a guy named Don that has some cool cories too, but I don't have his contact info handy.

EA is the Perring Pkwy exit. With the beltway contruction it is more like 20 min. Coming from DC area you'd be better off running up 95 and thru the tunnel. Now it's the first exit for Perring Pkwy and same directions apply. Also my first lfs of choice.

Thanks for the tips...I'll check out Exotic Aquatics next time I'm up there. Probably this weekend!

Find a way to contact Don Kinyon. He's like a local Cory (and other) guru. Go to the PVAS page and look at the gallery and articles and you'll see what I mean. He's always selling cory's at the PVAS meetings and auctions.

If you would like another suggestion. I recommend stopping by House of Tropicals in Glen Burnie, MD. The last time I was there a few months ago they had some of the red stripe's.

Ended up visiting both EA and AC yesterday. Picked up a handfull of Amano shrimp at AC as the price was decent (6 for $11). I will agree with Aaron that the fish were certainly nicer looking at EA, but both of the employees I spoke to didn't seem overly enthusiastic about being there. Probably better off visiting during the week for better service. :|

I ended up contacting Don, who does have some very nice looking Laser Greens. Unfortunately I won't be able to make the PVAS meeting on Monday to collect them, so I'll have to wait.

Thanks for the great suggestions. Its always nice to discover new sources for fish and supplies.
