Ameca Splendens- Free to good homes(3 Trios available)

Post by Ltrepeter2000 »

Back to the start of this thread....if anyone is interested in raising some of the Ameca's I have three trios that could be picked up from me.....had another batch released in the big tank and need to move them over and the grow out tank is kind of crowded. Let me know and we can arrange a time for them to be picked up. I am going to try my best to be at the meeting this Saturday but I am not sure about the bar schedule at this point.

First contact first serve basis.
Cost: Provide these fish a good home

Thanks
Rob

Hope the Endlers are doing well.....still no love for the Ameca's Guess this might be one of the reasons its endangered. These fish do better with heartier plants...

I've got no love for giant livebearers in general. They take over a tank too quickly. This is not to say they're aren't nice fish. I'm just not in the market for them at the moment.

Aaron

Hope you didnt think I was saying anything specific to any member....your correct in saying that they can take over a tank....pretty much true of any livebearers

Aaron was just chiming in so you'd have an answer from someone, not just dead air. I thought you were going to bring them to the meeting last Sat. I've heard they eat some algaes, like florida flag fish do. I've just never verified that. You work down in Rockville right, maybe I'll pick some up from you one night.

Aquascape? I'm a crypt farmer.

If you've got bait, I've got wasabi!

I wish I could be like Mr. Sarcastic when I grow up! ;)

No I was just trying to be a pain in the butt until someone wanted to try some so I dont have to start killing fish  .....they are pretty good algae eaters as long as you dont feed them often they keep a tank really clean....very voracious eaters....didnt bring them to the meeting since no one had shown interest I didnt think it was worth the stress on the fish. I have found that they will steadily eat very fine leaved plants.....and they also are pretty good about eating sword leaves that have started to die off. They do not touch java or other hearty plants in my experience. I work at the bar in Rockville on certain weeknights but work at Fort Belvoir during the day so best bet is to catch me on a weekend or on a night when I am not working....Just let me know

Thanks
