New emersed plant

Post by scientist0724 »

So I found a really cute plant that I have emersed in my paludarium called Cyperus fertilis. It's like a dwarf papyrus that is currently growing in a small pot, but it grows very low. A website that I found that sells this plant describes it:

"Marvelously cute member of the Papyrus forming small flat rosettes of many wide quilted pastel almond leaves, quite short from which centers arise arched stolons w/ new dangling cute viviparous rosettes--the "Spider Plant" of "Umbrella Sedges"--especially popular as a "darling" terrarium subject with its wee skirt of new viviparus babies encircling mom spidersedge."

So far since I've had it, I've seen it send out these babies and now they are forming roots. So soon I will have some babies to share with others.

I might have some baby plants by the next auction, but if not, definitely by the February meeting.
