Eriocaulon decangulare

I'd love to find Eriocaulon compressum if we do go down south this coming spring for a collecting trip.

Im not sure that what we collected is an Eriocaulon, after cleaning and dividing the plant it doesn't have the same structure that my other erio has. I think what we got is an Eleocharis

Seed pods were Eriocaulon sp. style, but the condition it was in, you may be
right. I'll swing by the other location if I get a chance this week. When I saw
some there last year, it was mid-late summer and it had the Eriocaulon sp. style seed pods for sure.

Grow it anyway.

The only thing that would lead me to believe that it is an Eriocaulon is that I saw white roots growing around the base of the plant, just like I've seen on all of the Eriocaulons that I've kept. I'm not sure that's the greatest description. It would be easier to explain in person.

We'll know soon enough because if it is an Eleocharis it should put out runners.

I'm recanting my earlier statement. I agree with you guys that it is likely an Eleocharis species.

I've been looking over all of the distribution info on the net (not much to be found:() and it appears that the Nanticoke Watershed is our best bet for finding the 4 Eriocaulon species said to be native to Maryland/Virginia. Maybe a long Saturday trip in the spring/summer is called for?

Okay, this one has been officially evicted from my tanks. It was a giant Eleocharis species to boot. It was starting to grow 6 and 7 inches out the top of my 10 gallon tank and the stalks w/ seeds that I didn't bother pruning we're beginning to form plantlets on the tips of them.
