Good Plant for Contest

I have entered the contest despite the fact that I have not been able to grow any plants yet.

So I was wondering what were good plants for the 2.5 gallon tanks and if anyone will have any for the auction in April. So far all I have is some dying java fern and moss.

Also, is the April meeting still going to be in VA? My work requires a month notice for days off so I need to know if I will be driving to Silver Springs or VA.

swords - not a good choice
stems - usually a good choice if they have small leaves
moss decent choice
some var of Anubias - good choice
val in any form - perfect!

Jiga, to expand on Jeff's list above, here a few items that you may want to try:

Foreground:
HC
Marsilia minuta
Fisidens Moss attached to rocks

Midground:
Anubias barteri nana 'petite'
Downoi (Pogostemon helferi)

Background:
Blyxa japonica
Hairgrass

Jigna, watch for a March meeting post closer to the meeting, but most of our recent meetings have had HC, fissidens, downoi, blyxa japonica, and hairgrass. Also, tradionally, many folks try to bring "nano plants" to the meeting where we pickup the 2.5G tanks. That'll be in April.

I'm full of questions.

My next question is about CO2 diffusers.

I ordered a mini diffuser for the contest but was wondering if I also need a filter.

Only to create a flow in the tank so the CO2 is disbursed evenly throughout the tank.

I use a nano filter, the most common ones are from Red Sea.

Ya, I have the nano Red Sea filter and I like it because you can control the flow and its almost silent.

As an FYI to those that need a filter for their nanos

Wally's in Annandale has multiple of the Azoo version of the Red Sea nano filter for 14 bucks IIRC.

I just picked up one and it looks EXACTLY like the Red Sea version (I pulled both out of the box and tried to find a difference).
