Aquafest Vendors

I am the Vendor Chair for Aquafest, and was asked by Mark from Anubias Design to let everyone know that he has a bunch of shipments that will be coming in for the show and that if there is anything you would like to make sure and let him know so he can make sure to bring it along.

Here's the "official" post from him:
"I'm going to try to bring in a shipment from Germany before the show. There is a list of the availability highlights on my website at http://anubiasdesign.com/special/index.php. I am accepting preorders for this shipment now. Please pass that word on. If anyone is looking for anything in particular from anywhere, have them email me. In addition to Germany, I am anticipating shipments from Brasil, Colombia, Singapore and India between now and the show and there may be others as well. There are a lot of wild Bettas available right now and this is the best year I have ever seen for altum angels. They've been absolutely fantastic. The list of available Corys is starting to get better every week, and the number of varieties of wild discus that are available should start increasing in the next week or so."

So make sure to check out the list, and ask if there's anything you're looking for that you don't see on the list. Let's support the vendors coming to our event!!

Also, Amazon Tropical Fish (http://www.amazontropicalfishllc.com) and The Amazon Basement (http://www.theamazonbasement.com) will be bringing livestock, but you should cotnact them if you want something specific to make sure it gets to the convention for you!

Jen, do they do plants? I've only ever seen fish on their website. I'd love to get some of the varieties of red swords (like Echinodorus 'Red Diamond' from tropica) that are coming out of Europe.

Tropica doesn't typically ship to the US. Stinks, huh?

Anubias Design I know will do plants from time to time.

No reason to, they can sell everything they have without dealing with the US market. That's how I understand it anyhow.

Bev at The Amazon Basement told me they're bringing in plants for the convention... if Anubias Design can't get what you're looking for I would definitely ask her. I have no idea who her supplier is, but if they are half as good as where she gets her livestock you'll be happy for sure.

Thanks for the heads up--I contacted Mark at Anubias Design for a fish not on the list (rasabora maculata) and he's going to bring it (actually, he said he was bringing a selection of "nano" fish). I can't attend, but Rick can--so I'm a happy camper!

Anubias Design post for plants, just in time for Aquafest...

Hey Gang,
I can get a plant shipment in from Indonesia but there is a short turnaround time on these. I need orders by 10 pm eastern time on Thursday night. These will be in just in time to go to Aquafest. Shipouts will be sent on October 19th. Please send orders offlist to anubiasdesign@yahoo.com. These plants are always great quality and the bunches are really full. I've found that the bunches are a better deal than buying the bare rooted plants so I've switched a lot of species over to bunches. Let me know if you have any questions.

The USDA will not allow potted aquarium plants to be imported. I have always understood that Tropica refuses to ship thier plants with bare roots. Hence, no Tropica plants are imported into the US.

If he is bringing in plants from Indonesia, why cant he get some of the rare stuff? A list of plants the you can get pretty much from the LFS. Anyone know why this is?
