Aquafest 2009

Post by krisw »

We are less than two months away from Aquafest 2009, a joint effort between CCA, GWAPA, and PVAS to host a weekend full of aquarium-related topics for a minimal price. On Saturday, October 17, we will have a day of speakers and events, and on the 18th an all-day auction. The cost for the Saturday activities is only $15, with convenient meal options available at additional cost. Here is the schedule:

Saturday, October 17 - Talks, Lunch, Fish Show, Vendors, Banquet
9:00 AM - Ken Davis, "The Fishes of Uruguay"
10:30 AM - Jason Baliban, "Aquascaping and Photography"
12 noon - Lunch in the Atrium
1:30 PM - Randy Carey, "Making Sense of the Barbs, Danios, and Rasboras"
3:00 PM - GWAPA Aquascaping Demo
7 PM – Banquet

Don’t miss your chance to hear well-known speakers at a low-price, combined with vendor demonstrations, a fish show (allowing all types of fish, not just cichlids and catfish), and an aquascaping demonstration. Registration is underway now:

Let’s make sure that GWAPA is well represented at this joint event.

See you there!

That's definitely the goal! Two years ago, I don't think I heard a bad thing about the weekend. For $15, it's a great time. And the Sunday auction should be unmatched. Last time, I think it ran for most of the day, with all kinds of interesting items, fish, and plants.

Also, please consider donating some time folks.

We have a registration table to man, runners for the auction on Sunday, manpower for the behind the scenes for the scaping demo, Friday fish show room setup and Saturday night break down, and a myriad of other things.

A couple hours of your time can be invaluable to getting this off smoothly and fun for all!

We will be posting up a more formal list of things do do and times to do them in the coming weeks, but please just pencil a little time if you can.

I had a great time at the last Aquafest, and am really looking forward to it this time around. I'll be happy to volunteer some time once I know what is needed, and how much of the weekend I will be able to attend.

Keep the registrations coming! Please don't wait until the last minute to register. It really will help us plan better to have accurate numbers going into the weekend.
