I've never actually had the lid I just have a 15" cube with the water level all low because the fish won't stop jumping. I see there is a uns rimless lid that they sell for a 15.75" (40cm) cube that might fit, but it's not in stock anywhere. I don't see aqueon actually selling the frameles...

Well my adults that are fully colored up are just as you describe (minus the not breeding...). Even 40 juvies out in the open in a 20g seemingly does nothing to encourage them to stop hiding. So I suspect if I put 150 adults in an 80g they will still hide all the time heh.

I personally use osmocote plus and just vacuum the balls out if they make it on top of the substrate. Sounds like you need to buy dry ferts and mix them yourself... initial cost might not be that low but like 1/2 lb of some of these would last a lifetime if you're not running a huge nursery or something.
