Re: Scratches in Aquarium Glass

@Joshua Thanks for the response, very interesting. I ordered some cerium oxide and will first try buffering by hand and then by orbital buffer if the first doesn't work. That said, can you clarify what you mean by nasty stuff? From the Youtube videos, doesn't seem to hard to work with and I am going...

PAR Meter

At one of the meetings, Viktor mentioned that GWAPA has a PAR meter. I wanted to test out my aquaray lights in my 55 gallon and was wondering if I could borrow it.

Thanks

Scratches in Aquarium Glass

I have some unsightly scratches in my aquarium glass from cleaning the insides of the tank with a fairly non abrasive sponge (go figure).

Has anyone tried to remove scratches from glass? There seems to be a variety of approaches, products; wonder who has had success.

Thx

Free: Amazon Sword

I have a very large Amazon sword that is now too big for my 55 gallon long. Most suitable at this point for a tall tank. Bright green, growing nicely, lots of leaves. I can't seem to get to the meetings, be happy to pass it along to anyone interested. I am in Silver Spring or Takoma Park and could m...

Database of equipment

Does there exist a membership database of equipment used?

I be curious to see what other folks are using and what their experience has been, e.g, filters, lights, substrate.

Re: Interesting accidental observation - Co2

I definitely turned down the bubble rate and have checked the dropped checker more regularly; the latter is pretty imprecise.

Interesting accidental observation - Co2

I have a 55 gallon with Co2 and a fluval 504. One day the piece that directs the water in the outtake tube fell off an all the water was going straight down, instead of out to the front of the tank (disturbing the surface). I went to fix and happen to see my C02 drop checker, which is usually blueis...

Alternative to impellers in canister filters

I have a 55 g and have a Fluval 405. I may need to move the tank to the bedroom, but the sound of the impeller rattling against the impeller shaft drives me bonkers. Is there a brand of canister filter that uses an alternative to an impeller; perhaps something more advanced to pump the water. The Fl...

Re: Root tabs

From and old Ghazanfar Ghori' post that may be of interest, seem like the NPK ratio is quite different, but I remember from the meeting that the plant takes from the root tabs what it needs. Research I've done indicates that aquatic plants need a ratio of 10 : 1 : 10 N : P : K There is a good summar...

Re: Root tabs

Thanks. From what i can tell, the spikes only have the macros (4-4-4 NPK), while the Seachem Tabs have much lower NPK, but a wider diversity of micros (calcium 15%, Mg .06%, boron, .03%, Iron 2.2%, etc.). There seems to be a lot of mention of using Jobe's on various forums (including this one), so i...
