Sean gave me some of his sag subulata about a month ago. He warned me that it was very inconsistent in terms of height, having some pieces lying across the water surface, while others will stay close to 6 inches. Sure enough, in my tank, I have the same diversity, ranging from 4" up to roundabo...

About how big do these leaves get? Duckweed size? Frogbite size? They're definitely pretty!

What are you current tank parameters? (tank size, light, co2, etc) One of the most common causes of this is insufficient light. Often times you will see a large distance between the nodes, and then sometimes the tips (or the parts closest to the light) will be much closer together. Perhaps this corr...

Larry, how long are you keeping your lights on every day? I've seen drastic algae reduction with something as simple as a small decrease in the amount of time I left the lights on.

Hey Marsha, Thanks for the reply! I can't believe the swords either! I added a 110W light strip, and about a week later, all of the larger swords added about 4" to their length. This, after being the same length for over a year! Per the microsword. It wasn't doing so well in this tank (before I...

Hey Guys, Here's the latest. It's been a bit more than a month since the last picture. You can tell that the sword plants have taken off like crazy, after adding another light strip, and after being on canister CO2. GG, I never took out those "contrasting" rocks, but I'm trying to mask the...

Hit it right on the head Marsha. I'm hoping to rearrange some things this summer to make room for a few more tanks. This hobby is like a drug.

If I'm lucky, they will. I don't think the mom's lost a single one since they've hatched. Unfortunately, I don't have a more secure tank to move them to, but so far there have been enough hiding places, and the mom's...

Nah... I wish I did. Infact, I suspected that something was going on when the female changed colors, but in truth the male hasn't been very interested. I've kept other cichlids where during spawning the male and female where virutally inseperable. They would trade off guard duties and such....
