By the way, Lepomis gibbosus was introduced into Europe many many years ago, and now it is established there. They are abundant in Hungary, and about 10 years ago, a friend and I caught a few (with a net) and gave them to a college to keep them. They lived for several years in a large tank by themse...

I'm planning on bringing the following:

Limnophila aquatica (a.k.a. Ambulia) - a big bag

Anubias b.
Siamese algae eaters - 3 large ones; not guaranteed I will bring them as I will have to get them out of my 125

A couple of years ago, I put a group of 5-6 individuals into a 20 gallon long that had a hang on filter and some floating plants. I removed the adults two weeks later and waited for the eggs to hatch during which time I did not perform any water changes. I ended up with a bunch of fry that I managed...

Joe,

I used 3M T grade for my 125, and regular aquarium gravel (brown pebbles from probably a chain store) in my 20 high. I am happy with the 3M, and I feel okay with the latter one (I couldn't scape the brown pebbles much if I wanted to).

Answer to Jeff's question 3: I have mineralized soil and no CO2 in my 125, and I have never had an algae problem in that tank (not even green water). The plants have been happy there for over 2 years now. On the other hand, the first time I set up a tank with mineralized soil and with CO2 I had gree...

I only raised one batch for my 125. They are pretty easy to breed except that since they lay a few eggs in every couple of days, it's difficult to raise them in large quantitites I think.

As Jeff said, Tropical Fish World in Gaithersburg does have them usually.

I am for the mixed option. What if we make the in-house meetings open only to members? How many members do we have anyway?

I got the dwarf hair grass for the auction. I also found a box of brand new 12 bio bag Whisper disposable filter cartridges with activated carbon that I will put in the auction.
