Regarding the years I had the regulator, I went back to check the note I sent them and I said "several" instead of "two." Although I don't think that is a significant difference. Here's my note to them: "I have had a MA957 CO2 regulator for several years, and used it with no...

Milwaukee MA957

Those of you thinking of buying a CO2 regulator may be interested in my email exchange with Milwaukee about my regulator. I wrote them that I had used it for a bit over two years, and when I put on a new CO2 tank it leaked. Could it be repaired? Here is their response in its entirety: "It is wo...

Flourish Excel

The regulator on my CO2 is broken, and while I'm trying to find out if the Milwaukee folks will repair it or if I'm going to have to buy a new one, I've started dousing my 75g with Excel. I've never used this stuff before. If any of you have any experience with it, I'd appreciate any advice/cautions...

I sent a note to Seachem about mixing them. Here's their reply: "It is possible to combine most of our supplements together into 1 main dosing solution.....but not all of them. I suggest leaving out the Flourish Phosphorus and dosing it separately. If you tend to dose our Flourish Excel liberal...

things like phosphate and iron will combine and precipitate from the solution. I still don't understand (not surprising, since the last chemistry course I took was in 1957, in high school)--Seachem's Florish has both phosphate (as P2O5) and iron in it. Why don't they combine and precipitate out? Wh...

It's probably best to leave them separate.
Why?

Given the high level of light I'm trying to avoid algae by feeding the plants only through the soil. So far they are staying alive, growing a bit, but nothing has begun to spread yet. Given how mine is going I'd vote for September rather than August.

Don't worry about the phosphate level. It won't hurt a thing. Stop using the phosphate guard; you don't need it.

My water in Fairfax county is also very high in phosphates. Like Mark I only add phosphates three or four days after a water change.

I didn't register as a beginner--or at least I didn't intend to.
