Re: Ideal PAR for High Tech Tank

Rick, 150 PAR at substrate will grow just about anything, but like you said, it's a fine line for algae. If you can keep the overall system balanced, you can definitely do it just fine.

Re: CO2 regulator preferences?

I've never gone wrong with a GLA regulator, single or dual stage. They use higher quality parts, which tends to add redundancy to avoid the dumps. They're also pricier than many other options. I haven't used the other two options you listed.

Re: Photoperiod

I do 8 hours on all tanks, but use dimmers to adjust the lighting intensity. For the sword, let us know how that experiment goes. Increasing by 4 hours may require less intensity to avoid algae.

Re: Heathers for big tanks

I'll second the Hydor in-lines. I'm running on all of my tanks for years -- never any problems *knock on wood*

Arlene, I'm in no hurry, and I really don't make it down your way often. I'm happy to pay for you to ship it to me, if you're willing via media mail? (You can do so via Paypal for cheap)

Becca, we have the ability to mute everyone, but we'll want it to be somewhat interactive. So, people can ask some questions, they can unmute themselves.
