Re: CCA Fish Swap/Trunk Sale

It will be on September 9th from 11-4 in Rockville. I will be there with a table, and if you are a GWAPA member, you might join me. I would love to travel back in time, but CCA's website has October 9: https://www.capitalcichlids.org/forums/ (where in Rockville?) Linus, if you make it to September,...

Re: August Meeting

Seems like we've been getting a regular rain dowsing right around 5-PM most days lately, but the day itself is usually pretty clear.

Wish it would wait a bit later.

The rain may never fall till after sundown."

Re: August Meeting

Oooh! I want some G. metalicus. I think an outdoor meeting is just fine, provided everyone attending is vaccinated. If vaccination is not required for attendance, I don't think I'll come, whether it's indoors or outdoors, unless I'm permitted to bring a sumpitan and darts loaded with the vaccine. (R...

Re: Reasons not to order from BucePlant

Any updates? I had the opposite problem. I ordered plants in December and the heat pack was cold and next to the top of the box, but the bottom of the box had space that was open to the cold and all the plants were exposed to the hole/space. Upon receipt the plants were cold. The plants eventually ...

Re: Filter Sponges Close to Dryer Vent smells like Detergent

I wouldn't chance it. If you can smell it, they're going to shed stuff into the water. Whether it's harmless or not, who knows? How much are sponges, and how much are your fish worth? :)

Re: chipped tank --is it toast?

Several years ago, we took over a maintenance account for a tank that had been ... creatively installed. (That's a polite way to say the morons who designed this thing had no business installing tanks anywhere). It used a sump, and the return was just, plop, at the bottom, through a bulkhead, tossin...

Re: SPLITTING Co2 from regulator

I've done it with two tanks, and it's a pain. I can't imagine doing more than that.

Re: chipped tank --is it toast?

While you'll /probably/ be okay. One gallon of water will cover 231 square inches to 1" deep. So, 50 gallons will cover 11,550 square inches, or an 8' x 10' room to a depth of a full inch. Yowch. A 50-gallon tank is not a particularly large, or expensive tank... I think I would invest in anothe...

Re: New possible LED source

Man, that marijuana industry has really taken off. . . . We've now come full circle, where they stole all our good manufacturers, and now we're trying to steal them back. :)
