I thought Aquasoil usually had huge ammonia spikes for a good while after initial setup - how well are your shrimp and otos doing? When I set up the new tank, I put some well-established filter media in the new canister filter to jump-start the cycling. Then I waited two weeks. Then I tossed in one...

Thanks all. I already have one of my canister filter return jets pointed up to the surface; it definitely creates ripples and surface movement, but apparently not enough. I'm trying to avoid solutions that involve adding even more equipment (powerhead, surface skimmer, bubbling treasure chest etc.) ...

Hi all-- My 57g has developed a nasty little surface film problem. I found pictures of the exact kind of film I'm getting, and have attached them here. From what I understand, this may be an "eisenbacteria" film, but I have no idea how to deal with it. My other tank does not develop this f...

After reading these posts I now think the little guys that I already planted (i.e. the ones NOT on the paper towel) are in fact Glosso. I bought them from an online plant store, and they arrived such awful shape that I asked for a refund. I bought six pots and only got about 40 tiny plantable pieces...

These are the stems themselves with a penny for reference. Also a picture of what is in my tank--which MAY or MAY NOT be the same thing. They came from two different sources.
