Re: August Meeting

I don't have much fishy stuff to bring (my frogbit, dwarf water lettuce, and salvinia turned out to be invested with dreaded utricularia) but I will pick up some food at whole foods! What do we need? I would like the dwarf water lettuce as my tanks are infested with the utricularia anyways (I guess...

Re: August Meeting

I'm pretty sure I will come. Is frogbit too common to bring? I also have many plants that have been growing in a pond but I think there is damselfly larvae in the pond.

I also have many assassin snails.

Re: August Meeting

I still need to decide between this meeting and the Northern Virginia Reptile Expo. If I do come I will probably bring either Spanakopitas or Wontons from Costco. I also happen to have, by coincidence, some emersed Ludwigia repens and another species that is maybe brevipes that hitchhiked into my bo...

Re: August Meeting

I went to the Mid Atlantic Carnivorous Plant Society meeting recently and they mandated masks inside and a socially distanced lunch.

I don't think there are any brands available in Home Depot, Lowes, or Merrifield left that use actual dirt...

Re: Filter Sponges Close to Dryer Vent smells like Detergent

I gave up on most of the foam but I have been soaking a Swiss tropical filter in vinegar and some other small pieces of foam in baking soda paste. The both methods seem to have succeed in removing a substantial portion of the smell but there might be some smell left over as the smell of vinegar or c...

Filter Sponges Close to Dryer Vent smells like Detergent

I left some filter foam in my garage and they now smell like laundry, I assume it's because they were too close to the dryer vent and absorbed the odors. Are these sponges safe to use now? I also notice that one of my foam pieces is not completely reticulated and is shedding plastic "windows&qu...
