Crypt. nurii var. raubensis = Pahang Mutated?
Just received my TAG and skimmed the last article on C. nurii var raubensis, A New Calcicolous Variety from Pahang, Peninsular Malaysia. The photo's sure remind me of Pahang Mutated. I am wonder if Ghazanfar has seen this article and would care to comment, or others. The article says these plants ca...

Re: Clay as soil conditioner
Why the Feldspar? When I was looking to make my second batch, I wanted to add some more Potassium. The Feldspar I used has 10% K2O. But I did not consider if it is soluble/plant extractable. That is a big oversight. I have hopes of finding out what the actual available nutrients are for this clay. ...

Kris
I am not a potter, but Grog is added to the clay formula to change the properties when it is fired. Grog is fired clay ground into small particles. Beyond that, I don't know. From the clay formulations I have seen, not all of them contain Grog.

Re: Clay as soil conditioner
Kris I think you are right. Its been a while since I've read the article. Makes me now realize I don't need to add water to the clay mixture I make. But the water does cut down on the dust. No need to breathe in all that silica. I was thinking he was doing something else to the clay to "sweeten...

Re: Clay as soil conditioner
Jerry, is this what you're looking for? (Aaron wrote it, but it's Sean's recipe) http://gwapa.org/wordpress/articles/mineralized-soil-substrate/ Kris I saw Sean referring to emulsifying clays. I didn't think he was referring to the article on Mineralized Soils Aaron wrote. Am I wrong? I was thinkin...

Re: Clay as soil conditioner
The Red Art clay is a dry clay with some iron in it already, if we just followed my emulsification process to add the potassium and extra micros it would do the job. One pound looks to cost $1.75 plus shipping. And 50 pounds would be $15 plus shipping. They are a local company, they might be willin...
