I really like sumps... are they out-of-the-question

Post by Larry Grenier »

I had one on my reef tank and another on my Discus grow-out tank and really liked them. I'm aware of the notion of loosing C02. I' add a C02 canister to the system as-well. I'd use a durso which lets-in minimal air (enough to keep it from sounding like a flushing toilet) and I'd have the exit to the sump and the return to the tank below the water's surface. Doable or bad idea?

Aww you missed the February meeting where we talked about how to set up a sump, didn't you.

I have two tanks running with sumps, my 75 and my 56. It can be done.

Do you have a problem with C02 levels on these tanks? That is my only trepidation.

No problems, I designed the systems to limit splashing and surface movement. CO2 levels are fine.
