Need plants for a kid science project...

Post by sns26 »

My 6th-grade nephew came to me and asked if I could help him run an experiment to test the impact of increasing water temperature on plant growth. (Because he wants to investigate climate change.) So I got him set up with some plastic containers, a cfl light, and some heaters and he's off.

The bad news is that he promptly killed all the baby tears I gave him by neglecting them for a week. And I have no more.

The good news is that he has plenty of time to recover, and that I have all of you. So. Who has a big bunch of baby tears or some other super-easy-fast-growing-plant that I could beg/borrow/steal/buy this weekend?

The fast growing and very easy plants I can give you are:
Najas grass and Pogostemon quadrifolius ‘Octopus’

I can also give you some Cladophora algae; it grows really fast for me. :D
