Re: March Meeting Headcount and Food and Stuff
I plan to be there--and am looking for a plant - some sort of plant that I can use to grow into the crevices of my new scape (see picture). I'm currently stuffing anubias in there, but I'm fighting their growth pattern--they want to grow out from the wall, not up to root into the crevices. Anyone ha...

Re: Root Tablets
I use Jobe's, miracle grow spikes and osmocote sraight in the substrate. Have never found any of them to do any harm. Just don't over load them. Wow - you mean you just push them into the substrate a little bit and let them dissolve over time? I'd have guessed they dissolve way too fast when fully ...

Re: February Meeting
Uh...maybe? I'm wary of flapping my gums too much. We talked for a lot longer than I expected--but a lot of it was discussion about the best way to get people started.tug wrote:Will Sam be offering to talk again, when the weather is nice and we can count on more people making it to the meeting?

Re: February Meeting
Well, I'm glad I tuned in because I was one of those people who thought the meeting was next week!
For tomorrow (Saturday), I have a beat up old subaru with 100 lbs. of Jen's rocks in the back. I can make it unless the weather is really bad.
For Sunday, I could make it but not until 2pm.

Re: January Meeting
I'm okay with it. (When you come once a year, you can't be choosy about the weather.) I've just finished hardscape on my 57g. I'd love some interesting moss (not fissidens, that stuff took over my last tank). I will bring some sprigs of trident and needle-leaf java fern. Anyone want some white cloud...

Re: Holiday Potluck - Post What You're Bringing
Blaise AND Eugen? Who else can we dig up? Francisco? Corey? Sam? Jim? Jeff?? <gasp!> Ghazanfar? ;) yay! Ha! Yes, I was thinking of making an appearance. I have a new scape under way. I lost most of the day yesterday screwing with hardscape. No comments--lots of tweaking to do yet. among other thing...

Re: Custom Cherry Stand Build
I would use a good quality paste-type furniture wax instead. I usually apply it with very fine steel wool and then buff it with a cloth. The water should bead up on it.

Re: Custom Cherry Stand Build
I don't know about Aaron, but my finish is 3 years old now with no issues. BUT if I had to do it all over again, I'd use a stone countertop surface and do my plumbing up through the bottom of it. I'd never have to worry about spills.
